Why we love it: We may not need this pot everyday, but when we are embroiled in specialty kitchen tasks like canning, making stocks or cooking for a crowd, this pot is the one we turn to. It has versatility written all over it, with a pasta insert (to safely drain right then and there) and a steamer insert for couscous, vegetables, chicken or fish (sizzled over with sesame and scallion oil?) We love to use both inserts at the same time to boil potatoes or other dense vegetables/grains on the bottom and steam broccoli or other fresh vegetables on top. Make delicious dim sum at home by using the steamer insert for dumplings, steamed buns, sticky rice and sausage in lotus leaf and even turnip cakes! This pot, though it is large, still maneuvers easily and safely while it’s full. It is perfect for boiling many ears of corn, making bone broths and stocks and steaming lobster and crabs. Have a decadently old-fashioned seafood boil where the corn, potatoes, sausage and seafood all simmer together to savory perfection and you only have one pot to throw in the dishwasher!
