Cooking, for you, and for those you love
From our very beginnings, over 6 years ago, we knew community building through cooking would be a big love of ours. From our first classes at Roncesvalles with only 5-6 people, it was clear that 'getting together to cook' was super important to people. Whether it was to try new things, expand the weekly repertoire, or even start from scratch in cooking - being with like minded home cooks, learning something new together was a hit.
We weren't sure last Spring whether Online Classes could fill the gap left when COVID put a hold on our in-person classes. If this past Saturday's class is any indication, we are finding our stride online! 31 households joined Chef Jess Saturday evening to a full dinner plus dessert, and professional wine notes from Cookery's Amy McIntyre. The class got rave reviews!
Whether you are just getting started in the kitchen, or have been honing your skills for years, our classes go far beyond the meal of the day - with new flavour combinations, tips and tricks, rules of thumb, and professional knowledge. Are you a total beginner? Fear not, we will walk you through every step, helping you feel more confident while building your skills.
For kids, teens, and adults, new classes are being added everyday. Ms. Mun Wong, our class coordinator is available anytime for questions and advice - do reach out!

Alison & the team at Cookery
Meet Chef Joyce Singh
A graduate of the Stratford Chef School, class of 2008, Chef Joyce Singh has gotten her hands into every aspect of cooking. An accomplished Culinary Instructor for over 10 years, Joyce has played almost every role at Cookery - from beginner Knife Skills and Pasta 101, to adventurous South Asian and Mediterranean Cuisines.
With a passion for showing off all of the magical things that can be done to enhance even the most common of ingredients, Joyce's welcoming style, and funny stories, has her students returning again and again.
Her recipes will find a well used place among your cookbooks, dog eared and slightly splattered.
Meet Chef Jessica Roberts
Cookery's original cooking class coordinator and culinary instructor, Chef Jessica Roberts, has had a lifelong love affair with food. From the age of 4, she was discovering such delights as escargots and bacon-wrapped filet mignon-it was the early 80s! A Culinary Management graduate in 1999, Chef Jessica has honed her skills over the past 20+ years in restaurants and hotels among other creative endeavours. Thirteen years ago, she found her true passion: teaching. Being a culinary instructor has enabled Jessica to share her passion for food and inspire kids, teens and adults to take the leap into new flavours and techniques. Jessica now calls the Rideau Lakes in Eastern Ontario home and when not teaching and developing recipes, she gets out in nature whenever she can.
