Melissa's Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
We love this easy recipe for delicious ice cream from the head of our Montreal shop - Melissa Perrotte!
Make it at home with the Cuisinart Ice Cream & Yogurt maker this summer!!
Ingredients :
1 c milk
3/4 c granulated sugar
Pinch salt
2 c heavy cream
1.5 tsp vanilla
2 c fresh herbs - verbena (can substitute mint)
1 c chocolate chips
Directions :
In saucepan over medium low heat whisk together milk, cream, sugar, salt and vanilla. Bring to boil, remove from heat and add herbs. Let steep 30 minutes at room temp and cool in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer. Turn on ice cream maker and pour in liquid. Mix according to manufactures directions until thickened - usually 15 minutes or so. Add chocolate chips and mix for another 5 minutes. Transfer ice cream to an airtight container for about 2 hours for a firmer consistency.
