Salted Maple Brownies
Yield: 16 bars
Ingredients:
140 g dark chocolate, chopped (1 1/2 cups)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
3 eggs
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspon sea salt
Maple Glaze
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon maple extract
1/3 cup icing sugar
Flaked sea salt
Directions:

Heat oven to 350°F. Line an 8X8” baking pan with parchment.

Combine chocolate and butter in medium heat-proof bowl. Melt over saucepan of simmering water, stirring occasionally until melted, about 6 minutes. Remove from heat. Whisk in sugar and maple syrup.

Whisk in eggs, one at a time. Gradually stir in flour and salt until just combined. Spread batter in prepared pan, smoothing top.

Bake until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out almost clean with a few crumbs clinging to toothpick, about 22 to 25 min. Remove pan to a rack and let cool slightly.
Glaze

Whisk maple syrup, maple extract and icing sugar in a small bowl, adding water 1/4 teaspoon at a time, if needed, to make a smooth, pourable glaze. Drizzle over top of brownies. Sprinkle with flaked sea salt.

Let cool completely before cutting into 16 squares.
NOTE: Can't find maple extract? Simply omit for a great tasting brownie with less maple flavour.
Brownies salés à l’érable

Ingrédients:
140 g chocolat noir, haché (1 1/2 tasse)
1/2 tasse beurre non-salé, en cube
3/4 tasse sucre
1/4 tasse sirop d’érable
3 œufs
3/4 tasse farine tout usage
1/4 c. à thé sel de mer
Glaçage à l’érable
1 c. à table sirop d’érable
1/4 c. à thé extrait d’érable
1/3 tasse de sucre glace
Sel marin en flocons
Directions :
1. Préchauffer le four à 350°F. Tapisser un moule de 8 X 8 pouces de papier parchemin.
2. Combiner le chocolat et le beurre dans un bol moyen résistant à la chaleur. Faire fondre au-dessus d’une casserole d’eau frémissante, en remuant de temps en temps jusqu’à ce que le chocolat soit fondu, environ 6 minutes. Retirer du feu. Incorporer le sucre et le sirop d’érable en fouettant.
3. Incorporer les œufs, un par un, en fouettant. Incorporer graduellement la farine et le sel jusqu’à ce que le mélange soit homogène. Étendre la pâte dans le moule préparé, en lissant le dessus.
4. Faire cuire jusqu’à ce qu’un cure-dent inséré au centre en ressorte presque propre avec quelques miettes qui s’accrochent au cure-dent, environ 22 à 25 min. Retirer le moule sur une grille et laisser refroidir légèrement.
Glaçage
1. Fouetter le sirop d’érable, l’extrait d’érable et le sucre à glacer dans un petit bol, en ajoutant de l’eau 1/4 de cuillère à café à la fois, si nécessaire, pour obtenir un glaçage lisse et coulant. Verser en filet sur le dessus des brownies. Saupoudrer de sel de mer en flocons.
2. Laisser refroidir complètement avant de couper en 16 carrés.
NOTE : Vous ne trouvez pas d’extrait d’érable? Il suffit de l’omettre pour obtenir un brownie délicieux, mais moins parfumé à l’érable.
